First And Second Corinthians

B.Th. English · Source syllabus with original formative learning enrichment

Course description

This course examines the first and second epistles to the Corinthians as they embody certain aspects of one of the earliest Christian communities. We consider the historical, political and philosophical climate present in Corinth during Paul's ministry and examine ways in which each of those variables may have affected the presentation of Paul's theology.

Course objectives

By the end of the course, you should be able to:

To explain various issues faced by the Corinthian Church and Pauline solutions to those issues

To help the students to learn biblical teachings concerning the doctrinal issues

To help the students to learn the basic message and theological and ethical emphases of Pauline Letters to the Corinthian Church.

To help the students to learn key issues in the contemporary understanding of Paul's letters and theology.

To give detail an understanding of the problems in Corinth and possible solution as well as Paul's teaching of various issues
